12,000 Tons Carbon Fiber Production Base Planned in Henan Province

April 12, Zhengzhou – A cooperation framework agreement was signed between the municipal government of Shangqiu and Henan Energy and Chemical Industry Group Co., Ltd. in a ceremony held in Zhengzhou, the capital city of Henan province, central China.
According to the agreement, bilateral cooperation will be conducted in five programs, with overall investment exceeding 15 billion RMB.
The parties will invest 2.3 billion RMB to jointly construct a carbon fiber-focused industrial zone in the city of Shangqiu in a two-phase manner, 4,000 tons capacity completed by 2023 and the other 8,000 tons by 2025.
The parties will invest 500 million RMB to jointly construct a pitch-based high-performance carbon fiber pilot base at the old site of Henan Yongmei Carbon Fiber Co., Ltd. The initial capacity is estimated to be 100 tons.
The parties will also invest on three other clean energy programs, the first on the production of carbon fiber wind blades (800 million RMB), the second on photovoltaic components (500 million RMB), and the third on wind industry targeting 1.5GW installed capacity during the Fourteenth Five Years Plan (11 billion RMB).
In his congratulatory speech, Li Guosheng, Party Secretary of Shangqiu, hailed the agreement as the critical milestone for deepening the cooperation between the city and Henan Energy and Chemical Industry Group Co., Ltd., accelerating industrial transformation and upgrading and fostering the development of emerging industries.
The two sides agree to further speed up the progress of construction and put all these programs into operation as soon as possible.
